Meet Lynette Kitt

Lynette grew up in Fort St. John and feels deeply connected to the community and the people. "It's a great place to raise my two children, Carol-Lyn and Tyler," said Lynette. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, riding horses, shooting sporting clays, running and playing soccer.

Fort St. John has a large number of volunteers who donate their time to make community events, sport leagues, and annual events a success. "It's important to me to be involved with our community," said Lynette, "a community is made better by what the people who live in it give back to it." Lynette volunteers with the Rotary and with the Emergency Social Services and through her business, the Canadian Grind Coffee and Tea, she also contributes to events such as High on Ice, the local CKNL trade show, the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation and Relay for Life.

Lynette has noticed a positive change in Fort St. John's economy. "Over the years I've watched the small street in front of my store get busier and busier, another street light or two added, new buildings and new shopping opportunities arrive," said Lynette. "Along with these changes, more people have chosen to make Fort St. John their home." The diversification in the local small businesses and the local resource industry means that "we have a better chance of staying employed and living a fulfilling life right here in Northern BC."
