Meet N.E.A.T.

N.E.A.T. is the owner of Northern Environmental Action Team

The Northern Environmental Action Team (NEAT) is a non-profit society specializing in environmental education and run by a volunteer board of directors. NEAT has an active staff of six with an Executive Director, Dzengo Mzengenza, lovingly referred to as “The Boss Man.”

The staff and board of directors feel a sense of accomplishment at the longevity of NEAT and the fact that they are the only business offering this service to homes, businesses and schools to Northeastern BC, including Fort St. John and area. “By being the only ones doing this,” said Tammy Hrab, the Communications Coordinator of NEAT, “we are constantly reaffirmed that our services are valuable to the Peace River communities.”

Tammy loves Fort St. John for the residents’ deep community involvement in organizations such as the Peace Gallery North and the North Peace Cultural Centre. Tammy explains that Fort St. John is mostly off the beaten path for chains outside of the restaurant sector and instead features local entrepreneurs owning and operating their own small businesses. “We are feeling optimistic that regardless of the energy industry specifically, innovation and entrepreneurship will prevail,” said Tammy. She cites The Olive Tree, Needful Things and Imagine That! as examples of successful local businesses.

Informative. Passionate. Supportive.

NEAT is a non-profit charity specializing in environmental education and awareness programming. “We work with businesses and individuals to create systems that improve their environmental impact,” explained Tammy. NEAT’s passionate and supportive staff and group of volunteers offer a wide variety of customizable programs such as company training, waste assessments, green purchasing plans, food security lessons and energy use assessments. “We just want to save the world one satisfied and educated customer at a time,” said Tammy.

NEAT is a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd and Fort Nelson. They are also members of the Recycling Council of Alberta and the Recycling Council of British Columbia
