Meet Debra Rees
Debra has roots in the community and has happily spent most of her life in Fort St. John. Debra and her husband have children and grandchildren nearby and enjoy the company of their good friends. “We are active in our children’s and grandchildren’s lives and help out with dance, band and hockey,” said Debra. Fort St. John is a great place to call home with many activities available year round for all ages. Debra recommends visiting the beautiful Centennial Park. “The city has done a great job of hosting a variety of different events meant to bring the community together,” she said.
She believes the business community is growing and changing. “More and more services are being offered or made available,” said Debra who recently opened Dejacali Wellness Services, a mobile massage business specializing in eldercare. She loves doing business in Fort St. John. “When your service is great the public help to make others aware,” she said, “in a small community the word of mouth is great advertising.” Debra became an entrepreneur to not only be able to manage her own time but also because she noticed there was a need that wasn’t being met. She is proud that her massage and eldercare service is mobile and she can go directly to her clients. “There is a certain amount of isolation for some seniors once they have retired and in some cases no longer drive,” she explained. Debra loves that owning her own business means she can manage her own time. “When I worked in a facility I had a certain number of people to care for and only a certain amount of time to care for them and I felt spread pretty thin some days,” she said, “now I work one-on-one and can organize my time for quality care.” She loves being a business owner and appreciates the great response she receives from her clients.
